Finding a New TenantIt’s more important to get the right tenant than the first tenant, and sometimes it’s hard to tell a dream tenant from the tenants from hell. We have an advantage there because we deal with hundreds of tenants every year, and we know the warning signals. When we look for tenants for your property, we conduct a series of checks:
- Credit check
If they’re not good with their bills, the odds are good that rent gets skipped too.
- Employment details
It has been our experience that a worker in a stable job is highly likely to be a stable tenant, and unemployed people often can’t afford to keep up with their rent.
- References
If other landlords have had good experiences, then it’s likely that you will too.
- Personal interview
If everything else checks out, we spend some time checking them out, and we know the questions to ask, the answers to look for and the warning signs.
It’s a detailed process, but we know from experience that if everything looks good, it almost invariably that you have a tenant who pays their rent on time and looks after your place.
